I hate yoga!
I stood on my mat this morning and took a deep breath.
Pose by pose trying to find my stability…
Not just in the pose but within myself.
Trying to connect with my core and find my grounding.
My body was sore and shaky
My heart was tender and pulsing with emotion
My ego… wanted to throw the mat out the window.
A huge part of me wanted to give up on the practice today because it felt hard on so many levels.
Yet with each quake I felt within and with each misalignment of my body I took a breathe and stuck with it. Remembering to stick with this thing called life that is mirrored on my mat.
That is why I hate yoga…
And why I don’t, in all reality, hate yoga at all.
You are faced with connecting to your body and feeling the things that you don’t necessarily want to feel… while also maintaining your stability.
If you are actually in it… not half-a*sing it.
Then you have to feel the emotions stored within
Then you have to see your misalignments
Then you have to see your constrictions
Then you see your EGO
And face it when you fall or mess up…
And then you get back on the mat and into the pose.
Finding a sense of surrender into the discomfort
And enjoying the moments when things feel good, strong, aligned, and energized.
Or you don’t…
If you choose to stay off the mat…
You don’t find strength or expansion. You don’t find the feel good long-term. You will lose yourself.
It might be easier in the moment…
But long-term staying off your mat simply leads to more emotion, more constriction, more hurdles to overcome.
As in life…
It might be easy to throw the towel in on things but at the end of the day that’s not growth. That’s not love of self or expansion.
Sure, we can pause and breathe…
Actually that’s encouraged
But pausing isn’t exiting.
It’s creating a space to get back in on your best foot.
With more stability.
With more connection.
With more certainty.
And the thing is that every day we have different metaphorical mats in our lives.
Where do you need to breathe and stick with it in your day today? Where are you exiting the practice when you should be breathing deeper to find your stability?
Sending you all
Love & Light,
Addison
Namaste,
