I can do hard things!

This is a mantra that I had going through my head this morning as I entered my studio space to do morning yoga.
I am feeling tight and sore this morning, on top of being 6 days into a juice cleanse.

My ego wants to bail!
There is no one holding me to it this morning.
No yoga buddies.
No one that’s going to care if I keep at it.

But I committed to not only yoga but also to cleansing my body and so there I stood on my yoga mat, followed up by a nice refreshing juice!

I can do hard things!!!
And keeping commitments to self are hard!

If your commitments to self are never hard then you aren’t reaching far enough and stretching out of your comfort zone.

Commitment doesn’t happen on the easy days where you are excited, feeling, high vibe, and ready to jump into your goals.

Commitment becomes commitment in those uncomfortable zones where you could easily choose something else but are putting your mind, body, and spirit first.

And it is in these times that the ego likes to play games with our minds and tell us that another path would be…

Easier
Healthy
Self-care
Justifiable

This is where we can convince ourselves that when we are giving ourselves a “break” that we are self-caring or that we don’t truly have the time or energy.

Now there are times when we have firmly ESTABLISHED a practice, where we can know when we truly need to allow for a break or self-care. Those times when we need to allow the grace and flow of lives to take over. Though this is only once we have really and truly established a habit.

Though most people commit on the easy days and then run when things get hard. They run when they are pressed for energy, time, or in the face of something more appealing to the ego. They leave their so-called commitment behind and still exclaim “I’m committed… but I’ll just do it tomorrow”.

We must commit to self, each and every day, and see beyond the moments when it would be easier to let it go and not follow through. We must tune into self and learn how to live in the flow while also pushing ourselves at times to do the hard things.

And commitment to the hard things comes in many different forms….

Our physical health in terms of diet and exercise that keeps us healthy and energized

Our relationships and taking the time to grow and expand them in the easy ways and the more difficult ways

Our inner work and continuing to look at how we are living our life and if it is in alignment with who we desire to be

Our mental health and making sure that we are watching and tweaking our thoughts and beliefs.

And PLAY and our commitment to enjoy our lives and find the beauty and bliss that is always present.

All commitments. All places where somedays we are pumped and others we need to breathe and remind ourselves that we can do the hard things.

I’ll say it again… commitment happens outside of your comfort zone where you expand.

Now, if you are uncertain if you are being called to be more in flow on a commitment one day then close your eyes, take a few good long deep breaths, and ask yourself…

“What does my soul want? Will I feel better if I choose for or against this today?”

As for me…

Today I chose to see my commitment to self through and use my yoga coaches mantra to get myself through. And I did! And now I feel so much more energized and proud of myself for sticking to what I know I desire in the long run.
